Silk comforters are breathable so that there is not a heat trap. Other forms of bedding insulate the body by trapping air between the body and the fabric. This trap commonly results in sweating or to throwing the comforter onto their partner.
Our comforters are designed with the highest quality long strand silk available. The fibers are removed from the cocoon in continuous strands (up to 1500 feet long). In all of the products the silk is stretched the full length and is then sewn in a quilting fashion out to the edge of the products. This means the silk inside can not shift or move and it will not mat. This combined with the knowledge that silk is nature's strongest fiber (tensile strength greater than steel), provides the consumer with a long lasting consistent product.
Our comforters, mattress pads and pillowslips are all completely washable in a front loading machine using detergents recommended for "delicates" in "cold" water. They can be dried on the "cold air" cycle of your dryer (* full CARE INSTRUCTIONS are provided with each product and these should be referred to for full information).
Silk is the only known fiber which in its natural state, (cleaned but not processed) is completely non-allergenic. This coupled with the knowledge that silk is resistant to dustmites, bacteria and mold has elevated silk as a must have for those suffering from asthma, allergies, etc..
